     William Belfield Lee We are descendants of two of William's children that lead to Rufus Humber Gaines. He was born in March 1750 at Bedford, Campbell, VA; MyHeritage info lists birth date as 1763. He married Nancy McAllister, daughter of Col. Richard McAllister and Mary Dill, in December 1772. He is listed on the Fayette Co., KY Tax list and owned land there around "Huston's Fork" and part of Leestown settlement. Most early Kentucky Lee's are descendants from William Lee of VA. Hancock, Henry, Richard, Edmund, Charles, and James Lee helped build Leestown, an early KY settlement. Many died in battles with Indians. He died on 29 February 1832 at Mount Pleasant, Fauquier, VA, USA, at age 81.

     William LEE Sr was a veteran of the Rev-War and served as a private in the Bedford Co. Militia in Capt. Cobb's Company. Verified by National number 164592. There is no documented of his parentage. Was reportedly married to Catherine Graves before he married Ave Noell. He was born in 1738 at Leesville, VA. He married Ava R. Noell in 1762. He died before 26 September 1803; probate will.
