About 1427 he exchanged his Thornhill property with Sir John Saville and thereby acquired the Manor of Newstead, part of Hemsworth, Yorkshire. Thomas and Ellen had two sons John and William. John had a son Thomas born about 1444
who married Isabel Drax. The Herald's visitation of 1563 gives her maiden name as Drake but other records suggest that it may have been Drax. She was much younger that her husband, and may have been his second wife. After Thomas's death 1502 she married Robert Blackler
of Houghton near Pontefract. Thomas and Isabel had 1 daughter Jane and Alexander, Robert and Roger.
